Default mud guards - Trailmods

Anyone install them with the factory mud guards ? What mod would the factory mud guards requires?
What do the Trailmods mud guards look like ?

What do the Trailmods mud guards look like ?
You can install them with the factory mud guard, but we don't recommend it. You have to cut the mud guard where the inner flares connect with the wheel well, and it leaves a gap there.

The TrailMods splash shields fit perfectly with our fender flares and creates a really nice seal. Let me know what you think!

Any guidelines in panting (color matching) the trailmods flares ?
What special treatments ?

No special treatments needed! It takes paint very well. I recommend a high quality auto paint. As far as color matching... there is a vin sticker on the inside of your door with the color code. If you take it to a place that does auto paint they will be able to help you get the right color as well.

Paint directly on the flares ? (i.e. no special primers or adhesion promoters ?

Wouldn't the paint be more prone to flaking ?

The flares are made from an ABS material vs. the traditional polyethylene plastic. Because of this, it takes paint well without primers and isn't prone to flaking. Dennis from TeraFlex painted his TrailMods flares on the Smurf. There should be pics here on the forum somewhere.
