Default Trail Ride Check List

I am trying to put together a great check list to go over prior to leaving the house and setting out on the trail. If you have something already able to print out please share it with us. I think we can all help each other out to make sure we do not get in a situation out there where we forgot a item if we go over the list.

I don't have a pre printed list but, i say let everyone chime in, Sub to the thread and you'll always have it available!

My quick list which includes, but is not limited to...

Recovery gear (including gloves)

Tire plugs (I've never had to use 'em, but its cheap insurance)

Bike pump if no onboard air

Blankets, even if you live in the dessert

Bottled water and some snacks

Zip ties, and duct tape

Decent portable tool kit with a large breaker bar or piece of pipe

Toilet paper!

Good people!

Don't forget a first aid kit! And a CB radio can also be helpful, especially if you are with a group.

Food and water! You never know if you'll be stuck with no help. Bad idea to go wheeling alone. Recovery strap, tie downs, tool box with everything you might need.

This is what's always with me no matter where I go, even to the mall:

- Basic tools (wrenches, breaker bar, sockets, pliers, etc)
- Cheap ($10), small air compressor
- Tire repair kit
- Headlamp
- Gloves
- Jumper cables
- Duct tape
- Small piece of rope
- Ratchet straps
- Hitch tow shackle
- 36" pry bar
- Small collapsible snow shovel
- Napkins
- A few 2x4 pieces

When going off road and depending what kind, I bring in addition all or combination of the below:

- Complete recovery gear with straps, choker chains, shackles, snatch blocks, etc
- Extra tools: complete wrench socket sets of all kinds and sizes, open end wrenches, ball joint press kit
- A couple spare axle shaft u-joints
- Axe (chainsaw would be even better)
- VIAIR air compressor
- Extra 12V battery

I wish I could sometimes take extra fuel on some trips, but for now the only place I can put it is inside.

Also a good idea to add to the list is spare brake lines and brake fluid. This is something you don't want to be without up a mountain.
