Default Traction Control Flashing / ABS and No Brakes...

I've got a 4-6" lift and running 35's, my Jeep is used with 60k miles. From time to time when I go to brake the traction control starts to flash and the brake pedal vibrates dramatically and I basically have NO BRAKES... I'll also be driving sometimes and get a single ding and the BAS/ABS light comes on out of nowhere.

When it usually happens it's no big deal, but I had a close call yesterday where I was unable to brake and had to swerve out of the way, it was a bit concerning...

I checked my brake lines and they aren't extended, kinked or anything. I think it might just be the sensor lines that go to the ABS perhaps thinking that something is wrong when it isn't and causing my Jeep to want to kill me.

Any idea what I might be able to look for to remedy the problem? Definitely a bit scary and would not want that to happen at a bad time.

Check the ABS connections where they go into the brake caliper.

Did you recently have your Jeep on the rack?

You mentioned, "From time to time" this time to time how recent is it? And it would help expedite the solution if you knew a time or place when it started to occur.

Does your steering wheel line up straight with the Jeep?

Does the Jeep Emblem on the wheel, stay straight while the jeep drives straight?

Delano.

ABS Connections seem to be okay... Drivers side was zip tied to the brake line for some reason and I actually cut it free it due to this issue but it didn't change at all. I made it match the passenger side which is lose and hooked into its metal bracket that holds it in place.

Not on the rack recently.

Don't really have anything coincidental to match it with as to when it started.

Steering wheel is straight.

Have you ever measured your front and rear axles to see if they were centered?

Do you have an adjustable track bar?

What are you running PSI in all four tires?

If you let the wheel go on either a flat road or the freeway, 50mph does it pull any direction or does it drive pretty straight?

then, when does your light flicker? when you are driving perfectly straight or when you make a slight or hard turn?

I think i am getting at either:

a. it's electronics
b. it's alignment

if you have a super chips you could actually see the code you are throwing.

wish you were closer for me to try and help ya...

My rear axel looks a little off center, is that really going to affect ABS and make my breaks go ape ish? This started prolly in the last month or so maybe... not sure.

Non-adjustable.

28psi

Drives straight

Lights come on randomly, driving straight and breaking, turning and breaking etc.

I have a Superchips, how do I use that to see what happening? Plug it in while the cars on after I get the code?

on the superchips, plug it in, turn the key to the ignition on, go to one of the setting buttons, and there will be a choice for dtc codes.

anyone else want to weigh in to help a fellow jeeper.

correct me if i am wrong, but if an abs line was pulled or malfunctioning, it was stay lit on the dash the whole time.

front and rear axles could be trying to go in opposite directions, laterally, if off by a few inches...
