Trac bar help.
My FT adjustable trac bar came off when I was going down the highway today. We just got hit w/ 17" of snow and I pizzed.
It came apart where you adjust it. I got to looking and it looks as though it was only slightly tightened (two thread turns deep).
My question is, what is the best way to go about retightening? It looks like I should remove the lower passenger side and the hand thread it back together. Then remount the trac...proceed to tighten.
That sound about right?
Thanks, 6

It's the front. I have no idea wht it was only 2 turns deep. I'm assuming the shop didn't tighten after install. I have been getting a little wheel play and some ESP issues. That may have been the reason.

I've put well over 10,000 miles on my trac bar, its never came loose.
I would go to another shop, check and make sure everything is tight on the rest of your suspension. I really doubt its a length issue, more like installation error

This might sound like alot of work, but ANYONE can do it, and it's nice to get under your Jeep and get to know your front end parts. Have fun.
Park your jeep on level ground.
Remove the adjustable end of your trackbar,
Put a 2X4 flat against the outer wall of your tire, and measure from the frame to the edge of the 2x4. Do this on both sides.
Some pushing/pulling will need to be done to get that axle centered. When it is, your measurements should be the same.
Adjust your threaded trackbar end to the proper length, tighten the lock nut, and bolt it onto the frame mount. Make sure it's TIGHT.
Take a short drive and check your measurements again. Adjust as needed.
Grab a beer, and check your balls for added size.

thats usually a sign something is loose, I'd double check everything under your rig, if the shop didnt tighten that, its hard to tell what else they missed.
Its always best to check your suspension every couple thousand miles anyhow.
I just talked with a guy that had a shop install his as weel, he was having issues with his track bar, it was finger tight if that, the shop also didnt even apply greese, you might wanna greese the bushing end as well.
