Aww crap! I didn't know about the mhz frequency. Essentially, I'm seeing 2 different 'types' of TPMS sensors for sale. One has the grey body (which looks to be OEM), and another has the black body (both OEM and aftermarket). I just bought 4 TPMS sensors from a member on this forum (nice guy), but they were take-offs from a 2008. So you're telling me that if his sensors are 315mhz, and my WCM needs to see 432mhz, they won't work?

I need to go have a drink or angry sex. Or both!

Already tried that. Didn't work for the TPMS!

Yeah. That seems to be the case. I called 5 dealers. Two said I need to bring the car in and have it flashed. Three said just drive it and the WCM will pickup the sensor ID's. About the same amount of confusion in various forum threads as well.

I just want to get the correct sensors, minimum number of sensors to eliminate the idiot light, have them mounted at the shop, and be done with it. Would like to do it right and do it once.

My dealer ( a bunch of ex cons) want $69 bucks per sensor X 4, plus labor. They quoted me $380. Seems ridiculous to clear a simple light. That's more than my monthly allowance for porn site subscriptions. Fuggeda Bout it!

You can only use it to lower your PSI , so the light won't go off when running lower psi WITH TPMS sensors mounted. BUT, if there are no sensors in the wheels at all, the AEV Procal will NOT disable the WCM and the idiot light.

Again, anybody know conclusively?
You are incorrect. It can indeed disable tpms. (you can download the owners manual from their website)

Or, keep breaking and replacing and breaking and replacing and breaking and... Meaning, the sensors are easy to break, and it gets expensive to keep replacing them (I broke two before I had them all removed and turned it off...)

The Superchips can also disable tpms, as noted above.

Discount tire is $40 per sensor installed.

Caught a valve stem on a rock is how I know.

Pefect! Finally a conclusive answer. We'll see if the 4 sensors get picked up by the WCM. If not, then the AEV Procal seems the way to go.

Does anyone know how to tell which sensors we have, is there any way to tell by the valve stem? I have a 2009 unlimited that I purchased new in July 2009. Looking at getting some rubicon take off rims and tires with sensor from a 2008 model. Would these likely be using the same sensors or did they switch in between?

I'd like to put rubber stems and TPMS sensors (new or original) in my 2008, but understand that they are incompatible. It's just a matter of time before more and more of the aluminum stems break/corrode/fail. Anyone else done this successfully while keeping the TPMS system active and installed??
