I have the Toyo Open Country A/T2, LT285/70r17 on my 2013 Rubi. I am running them at 36 PSI and the wear seems to be good. I have not done a chalk test as it is to snowy here for now. The door plaque says 37 PSI for OEM. What PSI should I be running? I have searched numerous forums and while most say between 28 - 30 PSI for 33" tires but there are a lot of discrepancies ranging from 28 - 42 PSI that seem to come down to personal preference.

From what I have found is as follows for tire size vs pressure:

32" - 30 to 32 PSI
33" - 28 to 30 PSI
35" - 26 to 28 PSI
37" - 24 to 26 PSI

Where do these recommendations come from?

If anyone is running these exact tires or something similar, lets here from you. Tell me what pressure you are running for daily driving and why.

The pressure of the tire is dependent upon the rim width, load in your vehicle, tire width, and the "ride" you're looking for.

Go with 30psi and see what it feels like. I run a 265 at 36psi for the purpose of extended highway travel. Higher psi usually nets higher MPGs.

Since these were installed on 17x9 rims the dealer inflated them to 42 PSI (289 kPa). I dropped the pressure down to 36 PSI. I do more city driving and occasionally highway. There is a little over 6200 km on the clock and tread wear seems even. This is the first vehicle I've owned with light truck tires so I'm just trying to figure this out. I realize that without doing a chalk test there is no real way to tell what is the right pressure for my setup. (Every vehicle is different)

I just replaced my 285/70-17 open country at2's with 285/75-17 Open country at2's and I also had a set on my jku and now on my jkur. I can tell you from a comfort and handling point of view you need to be around 28-30psi. I tried doing the chalk test with my set that I had on my 2013 jku but I could never get low enough psi lol. I finally just settled on 28-30psi. It felt the best handling at highway speed and around town. I replaced the stock tires on my 14 jkur the day I bought it with the same toyo's and after about 2000 miles I went to 285/75-17's. These are e rated tires and anything over 32psi is not nearly as nice. I probably am giving up a mpg or so but I would rather have a smooth nice handling rig.

How do you like the tires overall. I am looking at the 285/75/17's. Do they pull good enough. I live in Fl, and will mainly be highway used. I just wanted something different than the Goodyears that came stock. Also, being almost 34", did you need any lift, or simple stock working fine? Thank you in advance.

They are great tires. Very little road noise. They pull great in snow, mud and sand. They are also awesome in rain as well. Now mine are 32.8" just shy of a true 33. If you go with a 34" you will need at least a 2.5" lift and spacers if using OEM rims to avoid rubbing at flex.

I have 285/75-17's on stock rims and I have a 2" aev lift and 1.5" spidertrax spacers but I did run them for a bit without the spacers and actually was ok other then at max wheel turn there is a bit of rubbing on the sway bar link and the left side rear control arms are close. If not hard off roading you would be fine. The only surface I have not had them on/in is deep mud so not sure how they would do in mud everything else they are great. I was in close to 1-2 feet snow yesterday and no issues.

man,,, I was about to buy 285 70 17 but those 285 75 17 toyos are just in my mind a lot..
I had that size before on other of my jeeps but in the mud terrain, now i want all terrain on my 2014 rubicon, that tire is about the only one i see that is narrower, witch I like. I am torn between black pintlers and black savegres, my jeep is bright white .
