Default Towing and lifts

Does an aftermarket lift change the towing capacity of the Jeep?

in this case a 3.5 RE with Bil 5100 and BFG 33s on a 08 JKU with 3.73 auto.

Looking at a 2500 ib tent trailer.

Thanks Tim

Very interested as well. Will aftermarket springs compress less under a heavy load?

i'm sure your fine with the 2500lb trailer, it's not the lift per say although i did feel like my wk got pushed around a little more when i lifted it, it's the change in tire size that will make or break you. the heavier tires and wheels will affect the power that the jeep has to tow your trailer and the larger tire size ultimatley affects your final gear ratio. thus making it harder for your vehicle to pull the load.

Bigger/heavier tires and being less aerodynamic from the lift will affect the towing, but you won't have any problems. Other than the gutless engine, anyway.

I pull our boat up a very steep graded canyon (I-80 Parley's Canyon). It'll do the job but as stated earlier, gutless...

springs aren't the priority when considering a jeeps towing capacity. they are important with the tongue weight but i first consider the frame and motor when towing. what good are the springs when the trailer hitch breaks off or the motor gives up on the haul? they are the first things to fail. plus, if you see your springs are stacked up then its a pretty good clue that you should not be towing your motor home with your jeep lol. you wil be fine with your lift but make sure your hitch is the right height to keep your cargo at a level height. and make sure your sway bar links are connected and tire pressure is key. i hate nothing more than seeing a jacked up f350 towing a tailer that is bouncing from lane to lane because they don't give a F for other drivers safety.
