Default Towing a 26' 6000lbs boat

My unlimited wrangler has 4.53 axles with radiator diff covers, brand new Centerforce Kevlar clutch, has much more power than stock and 33" 305/55R20 tires. I need to tow a 6000lbs, 26 foot boat. I am wondering how the rig will take the load. I have seen a 2 door wrangler with a bigger boat on youtube. Thanks in advance for the feedback

I wouldn't recommend it. The towing capacity is only 3500 lbs. It would tow it, but you will be putting the lives of others in harms way.

The same frame dodge is rated for 7500lbs. So this is not about safety, but about the stock drive train and stock tires equipped with the stock vehicle.

I assume it has trailer brakes?

Actually the dodge pickup is rated for 10500lbs towing. So the frame can handle it.

That is not correct. The frame is actually the 2-door frame with a longer center section. The frame is rated for 5000lbs. Just confirmed with my buddy who is an engineer on the JK.

The brakes are another issue and towing 6000 lbs is way over the safety limit, even with trailer brakes. The manual trans is weaker than the auto and rated at a max of 3500 lbs.

Your Jeep though. Just don't haul it where there will be other people around.

Will the jeep do it? Yes. Will it like it? No.

Would I do it? Not a chance. I've over towed once, (not with a jeep) and when it goes bad it goes really really really bad. I was lucky and didn't get myself or others hurt, but it was close. Call a buddy that has a truck

Exactly. Or rent a truck. Shoot, I tow with a late model full size truck that has an 11k lb tow capacity, electronic sway control, HD tow everything, etc. I tow my Jeep on a nice low aluminum trailer that all in weighs a little over 6k lbs, and there are times it can get a little uneasy. Enough that I'm going dually on the next truck. I couldn't imagine using a JKU to tow that. I'd have to wear a diaper so things stay clean when I shit myself.

I doubt you will find anyone to say go ahead. At 1.7 times the max tow rating, not just 500 lbs over, I wouldn't. I have gone over the tow rating but not that much, and under very limited conditions.

Since your insurance company will drop you on the spot if you happen to have an accident, hope you have lots of cash laying around...

But, you have already decided that you are going to tow it regardless of what anyone says, so just let us know how it went.
