Default Tires for Rugged Ridge 17x9

Was looking for a tire for 90% highway use 10% Beach to so on Rugged Ridge 17x9 with 4.75 backspacing. What size recommendations do you guys have for a stock 2012 Unlimited? 32/10.5/R17? Can the 10.5" wide tire be mounted on a 9" wide rim? I've heard mixed thoughts. Thanks

Hi, I just received my RR 17x9 wheels ( black satin ) I have not quite decided on a tire size yet, still debating
between 285/70/17 ( in GY Duratrac ) or 33x12.5x17 in a Dick Cepek fun Country II tire

I do have a 2"AEV level kit on my rig..

most tire stores locally have been telling me 285/70/17 ( 33x11.5x17 ) will fit and look better, but I am still not sure which one I am going with.. ( I think the 33x12.5, being just slightly wider will still look and ride great!.. )

I will let you know what I end up with too ,

Good luck!

I do 80%/20%, and I love my Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's!

AEV 17x9 Pintlers w/ 35" ATZ's... And btw I do mostly Sand/snow with my rig... I will do some mudd from time to time but mostly beach/sand!

I have the RR 17x 9 Black with Machined lip rims. Just wrapped them with 315/70/17 MTZs. The look great and ride fine. My round trip commute is around 50 miles too.

You have to check the tire manufacturer specs for recommend rim width. It varies a lot between tire manufacturers.

Have these rims in black satin. Mounted 285/75-17 BFG KM2s which measure about 33.5" tall when mounted. They fit great on stock 2012. Did need to remove air dam bc of slight rubbing. Could easily just trim a little off. It barely rubbed at full turn.

Have a TF leveling kit waiting to go on it but haven't had time yet. The tires do stuck out a bit past the fenders if that's an issue for you. Shouldn't have any rubbing issues unless I disconnect sway bars which I'm not planning to do without more mods.

Good luck with your decision.
