I went ahead and cut mine. 37" tire and no rubbing at all

Not really...just took a sawzall to it and then spray painted it. Of course you can take off more but I felt that this was sufficient enough. Then I took some black gloss paint and covered up the edge. That's all their really is to it.

Please don't use a hammer...... Sawzall cuts it like butter. This took all of 5 mins for both sides including marking my lines. If you cut deeper into the body past the pinch seam it's not going to hurt the integrity of this corner.
