Regearing to 3.73 in a couple days just to get my 6th gear useable. Then i will be at:

4.10 stock gears (rubicon unlimited) 2008 model, 37 inch tires, automatic.

Been driving for 4 months like this. Id rather drive it like this than drive it stock or have smaller tires. So worth it to upgrade to bigger tires than wait for the $$$ for gears in my opinion.

Just put 5.38's on (after hearing everyone say they wish they got 5.38's) last week. Have not drove it yet. Ill get to drive it tonight.

Oh I dont care about mileage either. But it is a gas guzzler (my wife complains). I am sure ill notice less trips the the gas station from now on.

I couldn't handle the stock gearing (3.73 auto) and 32" stock BFG MTs... and I can't speak to stock gearing and 35s, but I can almost ensure you it would have been absolutely intolerable for me, unless I turned OD off, and not a fan of doing that even though it may accomplish similar things to re-gearing.

I put on my 35s and 5.13 at the same time and its like an entirely new vehicle. Not only does it look much, much better, it drives much, much better (than stock 32s and 3.73). My gas mileage before the tires and gears was in the 17mpg average range and I could get it up to 19 on long highway trips and since it's dropped to 15mpg average, and can get up near 17 on long highway trips. So, lost a little b/c it runs at higher RPM, but worth it as its not constantly shifting and annoying the $hit out of me, while wearing down my tranny.

FWIW, I do about same driving as you - 35% town, 55% highway, 10% offroad - and its just better all around. On highway at 70mph, it turns a little less than 2500RPM - tough to tell but calculator tells me its around 2425 - thus when you hit 75mph you are closer to 2600. If you think this will bother you, then maybe think about it, but I don't see any problems with it and actually prefer it to stock gearing which would run at 1900-2000 at those speeds and constantly want to be at a shift point in headwind, even the smallest of hills, etc. (and it would be worse with 35s and stock gears bc RPM would be even lower/less power/more shifting)

Whats interesting about the graph below is that I got better MPG's immediately after I replaced the hardtop for the softtop. The rise is probably a combo between weight reduction, I tend to drive slower with the top down, and winter gas.

Is that gas cubby on iphone? love that app :P

I have an 07 unlimted with 5.13s and an auto with 35's.

With my factory 4.10s and the 35s I averaged about 12-14 mpgs all the time. OD would kick off and gear search all the time, hills, wind, passing...

Now, after the 5.13s and the 87 oct superchip tune I average 16-17 mpgs all the time. Approx 80 % of my driving is around town, with about 15% hwy and 5% offroad. OD is used all the time now and no longer drops out during hills, wind, and I am able to pass @ 70 mph (2400 rpm) on the interstate with no problems.

The $$$ spent was well worth it based on performance and increase in mpgs !!!

Right now i am running 33's AT on steelies with 4.10 gears auto transmission and a superchips flashpaq. If I run hwy at 65mph i can average about 19-20 MPG - if i draft a an 18 wheeler at 25-50 feet i can get about 21 mpg

Flashpaq made a HUGE difference with me. Around town i am at about 16.5 - 17 mpg

bout to jump to 35's on aluminum rims, which should keep me about the same as I am now.
