Default Tires???

Ok, I just bought my first Jeep, and don't know about tires.

Can someone explain the difference between the stock tires on my jeep and 33's, 35's, and so on?

Not much to it. As the numbers get bigger, the tires get bigger. Stock tire sizes vary, but should be somewhere in the range of 29"-32" tall. So a 33" is an inch taller than the tallest stock tire. A 35" is 3" taller. When you see metric sizes that you have no idea what they mean, just find any of the converters online and type in the number to convert it to a standard size.

Then you get into what the various types of tires are generally used for. Most people here are interested in AT's and MT's, which are more aggressive tread patterns that perform better offroad.

The link in the previous post has some good info, just ask for clarification on anything you don't quite understand.

Default my33s are smaller than my stock 32s

actual height varies from tire manufactures

i have nitto trail graplers 285 . / 70 / 16s they are 31 3/4 " over all height
no lift needed no rubbing but you need to get a offset wheel 4.5 or at least wheel spacers 1.5 " if you use your stock wheel that came on your jeep

if you go 35 " tires youl need a lift kit to be honest , You could trim fenders, but youl have no room in the wheel well for flex going over obstacles

They are metric. Look for a set of numbers and /'s, like 285/75/17 or something similar. The first number is the section width in millimeters. The second number is the section height, as a percentage of the width (from the tread down to the rim - not total height). The third number is the rim diameter.

285/75/17
285 =section width (285 mm = 11.22")
75 = section height (75% of 285mm = 213.75mm; 213.75 mm = 8.415")
17 = rim diameter

The section height is from the tread to the center of the tire at the rim. So to get the tire height, you need to double it, and add the rim diameter.

Or, as noted in the previous post, just use an online converter:

285/75/17 = 33.8 x 11.2 x17

Default ok man

.but your claim holds little merit in the real world . Or to the average person looking for advise on bigger tires. Dosent take a rocket scientist to know thers very little room left with a 35 " tire in a stock jk wheel well before it ,may hit and rub over obstacles maybe in walmart parking lots it can be pulled off. But i would not Advise it to anyone interested in putting tires on his or her jeep jk unlifted. without chopping the fenders there after.

A random photo pulled off google of a jeep with 35s and no lift clearly shows what im saying

You may even put 37s on with no lift but good luck going over anything but a pencil in the road. And 35s even look awful unless its lifted not to mention limitations . But i give you credit for trying it out just the same lol ,

The guy above you said his buddy was run flat fenders...
I hate when people say definitively that you can't run 35s without a lift. It's been almost 3 years for me... No issues, no rubbing if I could post more than one picture I would post up some more poser shots...

I'm about a half inch from my bumpstop.. I did trim my fenders, pinch seam, and added spacers, that's it...
