Default Tire and Wheel Help

Hello folks
I'm new to the Jeep community.
I bought a 2011 JK Sport back in October and now I am looking to change the wheels and have a lift installed.

My JK came with 17" wheels on it, but I need to know if I can run 16" wheels?
I'm really liking the BlackRock style and with my limited budget they have the look I want and the price is right too.

I am also looking at getting a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers (305/70/16).

I tried to call the dealer and I asked if I could run the smaller rim, but service department said they weren't sure.

I have looked so much on this forum and others I'm getting confused and just need help.

Thanks in advance
Rod

Yes. 16's will fit. I run 15's from Discount Tire Direct, MB72's.

You shouldn't have a problem running the 16" rim unless they changed something on the brakes. I know mine fit on a Rubicon model that came with 17s, but that was another 2010. If you get up here near the 10/12 split in Baton Rouge anytime soon we could try bolting my spare on to check clearance.

I appreciate it, I may have to hit you up on that soon.

That's what I'm concerned about. I can't get an answer on wether the 2011 brakes are different and if they are gonna limit my choices.

NP. I was thinking they might have changed something like the rotor or caliper. Funny thing is all they have to do is put the last 8 of your VIN in their computer and they'll get the part numbers for the caliper and rotors. From there it should cross-list all fitments.

Plus I haven't seen very many 2011's with other than stock. I mean I saw a few with 33's but mostly Unlimiteds.

The Jeep Dealer here in Slidell, is hit or miss. Sometimes I get good service and sometimes I would get a better answer from my 9 year old!

any suggestions on backspacing? I have read that 4.5 is the minimum if I plan on a lift (which I do).
