You could get someones rubicon rims and tires cheap! ( Mine, Hint hint.) Seriously though that would give your X a better look and they will fit perfectly.

So 285/75/16 would go OK on the stock 16inch rim with no lift just need spacers? Could I buy the spacers later? If I got a TF 2.5BB would I still need spacers?

Cheers

I got the 17" wheel group 'cause I thought the stock wheels made the wheel well look too empty...that and I really liked the look of the 17" wheels. I'm not endorsing anyone's sale, but as far as the 17" wheels and tires, I bought a buddy's BFG MT's off of a stock Rubicon for $250. They're not street tires by any means, and do handle differently, but I'm so impressed with the BFG MT's that when I go 35", the only tires I'm looking at are are Mickey Thompson and them. In my opinion, they are the ONLY and BEST all terrain tires out there. Sure, others perform much better on the trails, but if this is a street and trail vehicle, the BFG MT's are clearly the best hybrid out there. They've done everything I've asked them to do on the trails, in the mud, and in the sand. I haven't rock crawled, so you'll have to get someone else's opionion, but as an everyday tire, they handle well, wear well, hit daily Interstate daily traffic, and perform wheeling. The ONLY complaint I've got against them is the 10" wide footprint they leave behind, and I wish I had something wider. If you can find someone selling wheels and tires from a Rubicon at a price you can live with, I would highly suggest that.

check out last months 4x4 mag, can't remember which one but they have a tire review...

Best one was the Pro Comp Extreme Mud Terrain.. best all around for highway noise, rock, sand, mud and durability.. better than the BF's... a bit pricey though :(

That said BF has the new KM2's.. they are supposed to be quite good

Hard wheeling with both sets of rims, no rubbing issues whatsoever.

Anyone know if the Goodyear SilentArmor are good? I was searching for the MT/Rs and those popped up. They were rated highly for offroad and road noise. Seriously considering 275/70 R18 (sahara.)

So I received my stock options check yesterday, made a few calls to some local tire joints and cruised down to order a set of tires. When I got there the guy had some bad news for me, he said he'd called around to some sister stores and checked with a few out of state warehouses but couldn't get his hands on 5 of them. He said they're on back order (at goodyear) for a least a month!

He had two sitting at the shop and we wheeled one out and put it next to my current tire and oh boy... can't wait to get those bad boys on there!
