Tire suggestions for a stock X with pizza cutters?
The stock tires(245/75r16) on my '07 JK are just about whipped. My plan is to buy new tires in a couple months. I'm trying to figure out what size tires I should go with. I've been searching the forum for days and it seems the biggest tire you can put on a stock JK without any rubbing or modifications is 265/75r16's, which is basically a 32"x10.5" tire.
Right now I'm thinking about 265/75r16 Firestone Destination M/T's.
Does anybody have any advice, suggestions, or input? I'm realitively new to Wrangler's let alone the JK's.
TIA, and sorry for the question because I know this must have been covered a billion times. I just don't want to spend $1000 on tires just to find out they don't fit or I can't run them.

You could run a 285/75R16 (33x11.5) if you are using the stock rims. However, with the wider tire you will have to invest in some wheel spacers (spidertrax 1.5") to avoid rubbing the rear swaybar links. You could try a 33x12.5R16 but you may get some rubbing off-roading on your stock rear flares if you fully disco the front sway bar.

I'd really like a set of 33's, but right now I don't know which gears I have. I've tried to get a build sheet from Chrysler twice and I never got a response from them. There are no stickers left on the axles, so I can't just look at the labels like I could on my Jeep Liberty.
I've also read that with 33's you might get a little bit of rubbing on the front air dam, so it may be necessary to trim it a little bit. Is that true?

I just got my build sheet from Chrysler and it appears I do have the 4.10 gears.
Now I just have to make the decision, 32" or 33" w/wheel spacers.

255/85-16 size is perfect for what you are looking for. BFG Goodrich KM2's, Cooper Discoverer S/T's.. They are for sure a 33' tire, some claim a little taller.

You should buy my wheels and tires in the FS section.
But seriously try checking out treadwright and see if they are right for you. The tire size you have listed looks like it should work fine but you may want to reprogram your speedo when your done.

I went with 265/75's on my stock 16" steelies. I don't think 285's would fit the rim regardless of spacers or not. I had to re-assure the tire guy that 265's would fit. I got 4 Goodyear Silent Armors put on for less then $700. Seeing as you're in NY I might recommend something other then M/T's because they are not great in the snow and ice.
