tire size for dana 30?????
I have a 08 JKU on 35's that will soon need to be replaced. was thinking about upgrading to 37's but was worried about to much stress on the dana 30. Is this overkill for the axle or should i just stick to 35's? I will not be doing alot of offroad driving except the beach (sand).

The D30 is the exact same size tubing and C's as the D 44. The only difference is the differential housing amd the ring amd pinion If you don't off road you will be fine. Search on some other threads here. Or look at some that I've posted on and you will get way more information. There are several about this. And whoever tells you D 30 won't handle 37s they are full of crap. I'm about to put 38-13.50-20 on mine. And I have no reservations at this point about it.

I agree. I've been running 37's for awhile now (Falken WildPeak) and i off road 1-2 times a month. Nothing is bent, no damage whatsoever. As a precaution i did install the EVO gussets for extra strength and peace of mind. Everyone i talked to that runs 37"-38" tires on a D30 haven't had any issues yet. It will run like a 3 legged bitch until you regear, just sayin.

I think the biggest concern is the stress on the R&P gears as they are smaller and therefore weaker in the D30 vs D44. Adding gussets and axle tubes will not prevent damage to the gears.

I'm looking at moving up to at least 35"s, and possibly 37"s for my next tires as well. Judging by the way I wheel and seeing the results of a lot of people who wheel the same way, I'll probably be sleeving my axles and gusseting my Cs. With that, I should be good for pretty much anything as long as I don't let my front end hop like crazy, even on 37"s.
If all you're doing is riding on the beach (not doing hill climbs on the dunes, or even worse, jumping them!), then you might not need to do anything. But with as weak as the factory Cs are, I'd still seriously consider gusseting them.

I agree here. I have 35's on my d30 and it's fine. Going up to 37's in the spring and I don't have any doubts in my head. Then I'm going to 39.5 iroks. Then eventually will do some pro rocks
