Tire size for an 08 JKU with 3.73 gears...
Posted this on another forum, but wanted to get some feedback here as well...
Still shopping around for the right tires.......I'm leaning towards the Nitto Trail Grapplers.
My 2008 JKU has 3.73 gears.
I'm going to add a 2.5" lift when I add my new tires and wheels.
I've been looking at 285/65/18's, thinking that I'd be okay with my current gears, etc.
IF.......I decided to go to 295/70/18, would I still be okay with my gears? I believe this is Nitto's size in between the 33x1250 and the 35x1250. I know going to 35's can open up a can of worms with other necessary mods, etc. Would I be okay with the 295/70/18 without having to do anything else other than the lift?

35's for a 2.5" lift with 3.73 gears is no problem. I have an '08 unlimited with that exact setup, 3.73(up to 5.13's now tho) gears, manual trans, 315/70/R17 Nitto Trail Grapplers(35's). I had absolutely no problem running the tires at highway speed.

I have an automatic by the way, that may make a difference too.

Youll be fine. I ran a 4 inch lift 3.73's, 35 imch nitto trail grapplers, and yes I have an auto 4 door. I regeared to 4.88's now and it is much better, but the 3.73's were okay for highway driving
