A 285/75/16 equals a 32.8x11.2x16. It's pretty close.

I know how to convert metric to standard for tire height but how do you do it for width.

For height I use ((285*.75)/12.7)+Rimsize = 16.8+16=32.8

How do you get the 11.2?? I realize that there are a bunch of calculators online but I like to know how to do it so when I am out shopping tires I figure it out.

Thanks.

The 285 means 285 mm for tire width. 285mm is 11.2 inches. 25.4mm is 1 inch.
