Default Tire Pressurre 285/70/17 MTR-Kevlar

Well, santa got here early..lol
I had a set of 285/70/17 new mtr with kevlar fitted today
and man do they look sweet!
Ok...so heres my dilema.....theres snow on the graound and will be for a while to come by the sounds of the forecast....so who's running this size on a 2dr?
What tire pressures are you running front and rear? I need to use this as a daily driver in the week.
I cant do my usual chalk test as the snow just wears it all off.
Hope someone can shed a little light on this.
Thanks for any advice guys

I can give you the recommended pressures if you want to use those as a baseline. What was the stock tire (brand, model and size) that came on your Jeep new and what pressure does your door jam say to run?

The stock tires were originally 225 70 16 wrangler st's. I think they ran about 35psi. But I ran 265 75 16 BFG's. On rubicon alloys for a while at 32psi. Now I've got 17 inch rubicons with these 285 mtr's
I'm at work now so couldn't say what was on the doorjam

If your door jam says 35psi for the stock 225/70R16's your new MTR with Kevlars should also be set at 35psi.

The stock tires were a Standard load P-Metric tire with a 104 load index. @ 35psi this tire carries 1948lbs.

Your new MTR with Kevlars are an 8 ply 121 load index. At 35psi they carry 2045lbs.

My tire pressure chart doesn't go lower than 35psi for 8 ply tires so I can't tell you what the load carrying capacity of your MTR with Kevlars would be at 34psi. The difference between 35psi and 40psi is 200lbs. 35psi should work out great for you when daily driving. Try to find a covered parking lot for your chalk test.

I have the 275/70/18's they are E rated...I have run mine for the last 3 weeks at 35 psi..They are mounted on the stock wheels..I noticed that the very outside edges of the tread where not making solid contact..So today I lowered the pressure to 30 psi to make a run into town...It was snowing the whole time.. I even got a little Ice time making a turn while braking..These tires are the SHIZ Wiz NIT...Great traction on everything so far..

From what I can see right now 30 PSI might be a tad low so I'm thinking the sweet spot will be 32 psi.

I hope that helps you out..

i would keep em at 30-32 for sure. something as light as a jk doesnt need any more than that. i ran 30 in my tj with 285s on 16s and they wore great.
