Default Tire help!

My friend has a set of tires he wants to sell me, but i dont know if they will fit on my jeep WITHOUT getting a lift. The tire size is 305/70R16. I know if the FAQ's it says that 255/75R17's are the biggest but that seems small for such a big wheel well that the '08 JK's have.

Any help is greatly appreciated...and just a reminder i do not want to get a lift.

Those wont fit your stock rims for sure. That works out to be about a 33 inch tire which should fit with minor rubbing with no lift. Why are you against running a lift?

Not against it, just not in the market for one right now.

I was planning on getting new rims, not using the factory rims, but without getting a lift they wont fit no matter what rims i have if i get 16 inch rims right??

They will fit but will rub if you turn full lock. You need a 16 in wheel with a 4.5 back space. That will be the best wheel. There is a way to put washers on the stops that will not let you turn as sharp. Do a search and you can find pictures to see how to do it.

With 4.5 inch backspace you will be just fine. I ran that same size on a 5 inch backspace and had no rubbing turn to turn. You will rub the flares if you offroad it and disconnect the swaybar. I would suggest a 16x8 wheel with 4.5 backspace.

The backspacing will be listed in the specs of the wheel. There are a lot of different wheels with a lot of different backspacing and offsets. Read the specs, or make sure you ask the dealer before you buy them.
