Default Tire Comparison, 37s

I've searched for the past 1 hour and can't find a thread that compares pros/cons to the various brands out there. I've been running 37" Toyo M/Ts for the past 25K miles (2 yrs) and am looking long term at what I may go with for my next tire (or stay with the Toyos). I'm definitely going with beadlocks the next time. I'm estimating I still have about 10-15K+ miles remaining on the tires, maybe more.

My JK is a DD. It's also the weekend warrior into the mountains and the occasional every-other month trip to Moab. It can also occasionally be seen parked at the grocery store. Oh, & I like driving in the snow.

Thoughts on Nittos, BFGs, staying with the Toyos, Falkens, Kelly, Duratrac Wranglers, etc.

I'm open to thoughts/opinions/bitches/gripes/complaints on the various tires.

I have the Cooper Discover STTs in the 37/1250/17 size. Have over 50K on mine and love them. They have worked great. Will be replacing mine soon with Cooper's new STT pro

Bonedoc, thx for adding Cooper's Discos to the list. I haven't read much up on them. How is the "street driving" compared to the rock crawling?

& anyone else out there, thought's on Toyo's 13.5" width compared most other's 12.5" width. Why the dif?

The Toyo width is due to it being more of a truck application. The Trail Grappler is very similar, and a great tire, but is a slightly softer compound which will hook up better on rocks, but won't last as long as the Toyos.

The Cooper STT pro looks like a good tire as well, and has good reviews so far.

i don't have any experience or knowledge about the width difference.

As for the street manners of the coopers. They were excellent. Handled pavement with no problems, wet or dry. Snow traction was very good. They sing a bit but nothing unacceptable by mud tire standards.

glad to read that. I was hoping that cooper wouldn't mess with a good thing.

For an MT, Toyo will last the longest. Your 10k-15k est is low unless your mistreating the tires. I've seen over 60k miles put on Toyos in E load. Toyo has one of the strongest side walls available, if not the strongest. Probably the most quiet MT on the road. They are hard to air down given the stiff side wall. Toyo along with Nitto are some of the easiest tires to balance on the market, esp in large sizes. Toyos are extremely heavy, switching to beadlocks with 37s is a lot of weight. My old toyo 37s on slabs weighed in at 136lbs a piece. Personally Toyo or Nitto are the only tires I would use in an MT

Can't comment on any driveability difference between the widths, but the 37" STT Pro comes in 12.50x17 (D), 13.50x17 (E), and 13.50x18 (D). Overall widths are only .3" different between them.

Got the 37x12.50x17 STT Pro's put on yesterday. They measure right at 36" sitting under the front end of my 4door (on a 9" rim at 28psi). A good 1/2" taller than the 37" Falkens they replaced. And not much louder, surprisingly quiet so far for a much more aggressive tread.
