Default Tire Carrier Help

So I just went from 285 terra graps to 315/70/17 duratracs. Im needing advice on carrying the spare. I have the poison spyder rock brawler 2 rear bumper. Can the tire carrier be added? or would I have to purchase together? Would the smittybilt oversized tire carrier do the job. If I had known I would upsize tires, I eould of waited and purchased the poison bumper/carrier combo.

I'd call Poison Spyder and ask them, or sell it and purchase a carrier that carries the spare tire weight on the rear bumper.

Definitely avoid using the Smittybilt and other similar carriers that keep the weight of 35" spare wheel on the trunk gate - the gate's metal skin will eventually part as the welds pop.

If you want to keep the bumper you have now, check out Teraflex and Or-Fab. Both are solid with many great reviews on the site.

I know over on the wrangler forum a guy was getting a killer deal. I'd find that thread and pm him.

I have the Teraflex hinge with the stock tire carrier and 315/70/17 duratracs and it fits perfectly with my Smittlybilt SCR rear bumper. No movement at all. The third brake light is even visible.

Since the stock carrier is in the same location vertically with or without the Teraflex hinge, I measured from the bottom of the tire to the bottom of the tailgate door. Its exactly 5.75", so that might help if you want to get an idea for bumper clearance.

the one for 450 is just the hinge for the tail gate you will still need to use your stock tire carrier. the 600 version comes with the hinge and the teraflex adjustable tire carrier set up as well.
