Tinted Windshield

Tinted Windshield
I've been considering tinting my windshield and got to thinking about the appearance with the doors off and top down, and the difficulty while offloading. Would anyone mind posting pics of your tinted windshield with the doors off and top down, and any input on if it is a hindrance for offloading?

Full windshield tint is illegal. Some states allow 4 inches at the top and some are limited by the AS1 line. The Jeep Wrangler windshield cannot be tinted at all in AS1 limited states (the top of the windshield is the AS1). I personally only like the sides done because of exactly what you asked about. When the top and doors are off it looks wierd to me. I have loved Jeeps since I was a kid and really love the totally open air feel. I put a few inches at the top of my TJ which was OK until I took the top off. When driving it kept getting my attention. I pulled into a gas station and removed it. Windshield tint all the way down might be OK at 2:00 PM in the middle of the day but is unsafe in low light conditions. Think about how many people you see driving around without lights at dawn and dusk... or rain storms... plus with the top and doors off the brighter light around the windshield will cause the pupils to constrict will further limit visibility throught the windshield. I have suggested to others, go to Walmart or an auto parts store and get some static cling tint. It's not too expensive. See for your self. I feel its an easy way to make your own decision based on YOUR opinion.

What percent were you thinking about? My windshield is tinted 50% and you would never know it, but makes a world of difference in glare and keeps it cooler inside? No problem at night.

I'm not thinking anything dark because of the night driving issue. Like Web's Jeep, I would be doing a lite tint to help keep the interior a little cooler and had a smokey look. It's not illegal in TN to have the windshield tinted. It's all in the percentage of the tint. But I like the idea of a static cling tint to see what I think before dishing out good money for the real thing.
