Default time to upgrade tires and a little lift

I've been running my JK sport stock for a while. Had to take care of all the grown up responsibilities before I could upgrade Looks like next month I'll be picking up some Rubicon take off tires. So next I want to add a little lift. I like the AEV jk dual sport, but I'm open to suggestions. This is my daily driver so I do like a smooth ride. But want something good for the trail too.
Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Can't go wrong with Teraflex. I've got the 2.5" coil lift but you might want to check out thier budget boost lifts.

I say spend money on good parts up front rather than a cheap lift that causes problems. I would highely recommend the Bilstein 5100 shocks... on the road I didn't notice much difference from stock, but off road, they are night and day better than the OEM.

I am happy with what I have which is the 2.5 inch TF coil lift and bilstein shocks... if I was tight on cash and had to go cheaper I would get the 2.5inch budget boost but spend the extra money and still go with the bilstein shocks.

For sticking with Rubicon tires I'd go with a small spacer lift or Teraflex leveling springs.

A. It will look more aggressive.
B. You will retain factory ride.
C. It will match up with the tire size.

My only advice is NEVER buy cheap shocks. You will pay in misery.

Last week I installed Nitto Terra Grapplers and 2" leveling kit in my DD 08 JKUS. I, like yourself wanted something more aggressive than stock, but the only off road driving I do is on the beach. Everyone modifies their Jeep for their own lifestyle or for aesthetics, and would love to really trick mine out, but I didn't want to lose the comfort of the stock drive on longer trips. Good luck with your decision!

Good points mentioned above. Aside from having that aggressive look, what size tires are you planning to run?

1) Stock MT tires or 33s - A leveling kit (springs), budget boost or 1" body lift will work out.

2) 33s with aftermarket bumpers / spare tire - 2.5" TeraFlex coil spring kit with Bilstein shocks

3) 35s - 2.5" Rock Krawler lift with Bilstein shocks

.... On my '08 I ran 2.5" TF coil spring kit with their shocks. Jeep drove / rode well even as a daily driver on 35s. For my 2012 I will be installing the 2.5" RK lift with Bilstein shocks. Although I had no complaints, but praises for TF, I wanted to give RK a try. This is also my daily driver and weekend trail / beach rig....

I'll be the first to admit I don't know a whole lot about modding a car. I come from a family that's always been into classic cars and stock was almost always better......

Here's my plan of action for modding this jeep. It's not a very aggressive plan because Im just not heavy into rock crawling and this is also my daily driver so I can't beat it up too much.

Right now it's an all stock 2 door jk sport, and here's want I had planned to do:

Tires - Rubicon take-offs, when I wear I out the tires I guess I can put taller ones on the 17" rims

Lift - AEV 2.5" dual sport lift (with bilstein shocks) quadratec part # 16502.4412

JKS quicker disconnects

rubicon rock rails or maybe something similar

Aftermarket differential covers (brand to be determined.)

may add some skids too. (much later)

Have already installed the evap canister relocation kit.

after market bumpers will happen no time soon, but would be nice.

That's it for now, simple but a little more aggressive for the trail.

Any opinion helps

thanks again.

Wheel spacers. For 2 reasons:

1. It will push the tires out and look better with the lift.
2. If you wheel it it will keep your fenders off of obstacles/ruts better.

Does the Dual Sport come with the control arm drop brackets?
