Default Tightening the Sway Bar Links

So, weird question, feel free to laugh. My buddy talked me into doing a rally with the jeep. It's one of those overnight, drive through the woods and snow type of things so speed isn't an issue since it's not a race. However, I would like to tighten up the suspension a bit, just to put me at ease. If I shorten my sway bar links, causing the sway bar to angle down (both front and rear) will this help to reduce body roll? Or is doing so a waste of time? Thanks!
