Ever since it has gotten colder here in louisiana, when I first start my jeep and go there is a ticking noise when I accelerate, after jeep warms up ticking stops. Anything to be worried about? 2011 sahara 2 door 27k miles. Thanks!!

Oil is too thick to properly lubricate when it's cold. A cold mother should be warmed up to get the oil flowing as it should before placing load on the motor.

This is my first winter with my Jk and I've noticed a significant drop in mpg. I've only thrown the defroster on low a few times. What's up with that?

Is the ticking coming from the engine compartment?

If it sounds like it is coming from under you or behind you then I would think it is an exhaust leak. Since the colder temps are coming around the slip fit on the exhaust system does not seal as well and leaks, as the system gets warmer it seals right up.

This isn't something that is a major concern but it could worsen over time. It is really just an annoyance for now.

Yes additive is added in to the fuel in the winter months. It probably robs us of 1-3 mpg.

My 3.8 has done that every winter since new. In California they change fuel winter and summer so I always thought it was that but maybe not.
