Default For those who installed thier EVO MFG ProTeK Skid System

pretty straightforward question, did you drain your tranny and oil before you unbolted the covers, or did you do it with the fluid in there? Just wondering what my odds of taking a bath with tranny fluid and oil are.

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-s...-198955/page9/

This question is specific to the 2007-2011 Jeeps as the skid kit from EVO comes with a tranny pan cover much like the oil pan cover.

I did not drain the engine oil. In fact I just did my first oil change the other day, and the skids were installed before that. No issues at all doing the oil change with the oil pan skid in place. My JK only has 1200 miles on it, so no, I did not drain or change the tranny fluid.

I didn't drain the oil either for the engine. I just had my buddy hold the pan just in case it came loose but it didn't. Just be careful not to hit the oil pan with the skid plate cuz it could knock it loose and spill oil everywhere.

I understand being a little concerned about the oil pan but I'm not quite sure where in the installation you should be concerned about the tranny fluid.

I installed mine without draining the oil, no problems at all. Very simple install.

with the 2007-2011 you get a tranny cover much like what they give you for the oil pan as well.

Sorry. You specified the 2012 version in your original post.

ACK, I did, didn't I. I think somewhere in that thread they mentioned the 2007-2011. My brain was about 5 steps ahead of what I typed.
