Default ?? for those w/aftermarket driveshafts

I have been researching for a while now and readng up on the replacement of the driveshafts. I understand the reasoning behind the replacement due to the type of joints that come stock on the JK. What I don't understand is this...on an automatic (which I have), the front d/s can hit the tranny skid when the JK is lifted. How does replacing the front d/s with an aftermarket one keep this from happening? I have looked at mine sitting level on the ground with a 3" lift, and I can see where it would hit, so how do the aftermarket ones eliminate this?

Okay, so I see that the aftermarket d/s is narrower, thus helping to keep it from hitting the tranny skid. So then my next question would be...how high of a lift can you go with a narrower d/s before you would have to remove the skid or cut it out?

I think the question is more how long can the shock be.

you will have to trim your skid (I replaced mine) and the aftermarket drive shafts still hit, I have Tom Woods shafts much stouter
So, even with the mods, there really is no way to keep the d/s from hitting the skid? That sucks.

the skid is not really the problem cause trimming it is easy its the transmission that is the problem.
What do you mean exactly...it's the transmission?

And I have a leak now from the tranny pan after my OE shaft has hit it alot. With a 3.5 lift and 35's. But I also have wheeled alot of the toughest trails in Moab and flexing it to the max!
