Default For those thinking about using brake line brackets or extended braided lines.

Spend the money on the braided lines. I got lucky over the weekend. My swaybar almost ripped my rear headline off. The bolts from my swaybar links snagged both of my rear lines. The passenger side was pushed up and the drivers was pulled down. Needless to say I get to replace my drivers. I am also removing the brackets and buying extended braided lines before my next trip. Just a heads up to those deciding.

Then the links would hit. They stick out the same distance. They wouldn't pull them down, but would still hit on the way up.

just so that we're all on the same page, i wanted to make sure you meant to say that your "sway bar" almost ripped your rear brakelines and NOT your "track bar". also, is it safe to assume that you don't have an adjustable rear track bar? you said that your driver side line got yanked and that would make sense if you did not have an adjustable rear track bar as that would cause your axle to be off center toward the passenger side of your jeep. this would in turn, pull your sway bar closer to your driver side brakeline as well - i've seen this happen a lot.

That happened to Me on the passenger side bought a new steel line from the dealer so it would still have the plastic rust proof coating. it was only about $10 i bent the new one up out of the way so it wont happen again.

good catch on the track bar. I meant sway bar and fixed it in the op.

You are kinda right on the adjustable track bar. I don't have an adjustable bar but I do have a drop bracket. And your right about being off center. Even though they said it was for a 2.5 in lift it moves the bar too far to the drivers side the same distance that it was off on the passenger side so it doesn't center it. I think that if the axle were centered it would have just pushed both of the lineage up bending them like in the 2nd picture. Needless to say ill be calling David this morning and getting new track bars and brake lines.

Don't want to hijack but what happen with brake line after installing a body lift ?

I got the same bracket than yours but I'm wondering if I should change whole brake line ?

No body lift. I just have the 2.5 in budget boost from rough country. I made my own brake line extension brackets to save some money. I even bent them so they would be out of the way. It didn't work. As Wol pointed out since my track bar is stock my axle wasn't centered. When I compressed my rear tire the sway bar link hooked the lowered steel line and when it flexed. It took the line with it.

It's my fault for being stingy with my money. I should have bought the adjustable track bar and extended brakeline in the first place. Lesson learned and my new parts are shipping out today. Kudos to Northridge4x4. Happy birthday to me.

I installed some JKS adj rear swaybar links over the weekend and the instructions said to cut the threaded stud off flush with the nut on the top of the swaybar link so as to not catch on the brake lines. You might give that a try.
