There are a couple challenges with gears on the new sterling. First is that no one makes 10.5 gears (except Ford and they are stupid expensive and don't go above 4.xx). So, you get 10.25 hears and a spacer. Just have to know how to install in that particular situation.

Second, the crush sleeve is a beast. Takes something like 400 ft lbs.

Best years for the 14b? Also, I assume they aren't the same lug pattern.. How big of a pain is it to get it converted?

Newer the better. Preferably one that's already disc breaks. If i recall correctly they should also be 8x6.5. Read the 14 bolt bible on pirate

That's why I went sterling as well. I just wanted consistent bolt pattern front and rear without modification.

The sterling is crazy strong and more clearance than a shaved 14 bolt. Also like how wide the new ones are.

Is your sterling out of the same truck you got the front 60 from? 10.25 or 10.5?

According to Pirate: "Axle Flange Bolt Pattern: 8 on 3.523", 1/2" holes, bolts are 1/2-NC13x1.5"" but other sites confirm 8x6.5

i have 14 bolt hubs on my dana 60. The hubs are from a old drum 14 bolt, but i know for a fact they match the bolt pattern on my front. You may be correct though i think my front lugs may be a different thread/size than my rear. i think i have 9/16 and 1/2.
