TF 2.5" coil lift vs TF 3" lift kit

TF 2.5" coil lift vs TF 3" lift kit
Weighing these two options. Would re-use Rubicon shocks and shock adaptors with 2.5" coil kit. My questions are: Is it worth spending an additional $500 to get the 3" lift kit? Does the 3" kit net that much more height or articulation.

I'd go 2.5". 35s will fit in there no problem, especially if you're willing to trim your fenders. Plus, it's my understanding that once you go to 3" and higher, the project becomes much more involved.

I say 2.5", but I'm partial to it because that's what I have. And it ended up giving me about 3" of lift anyway. You could always add a 1" Body Lift (Follow WayOfLife's writeup) if you wanted a little more height later.

I was told that the 3in kit needs to have the control arms. The kit doesn't come with those because it give guys(gails)a option of control arms.. This is why I went with the 2.5 kit. My lift goes on thursday.

IMHO you will need control arms with either one, I have the 2.5 coil lift with shocks on my unlimited and I netted 3.2 IN in the front and 2.2 IN in the rear and castor is very low at like 2.2 degrees so my ride is VERY flighty. When you install the lift, drive it and see if you can deal..and if it is too flighty go for front lower control arms to increase caster. You cant go wrong with either lift, Teraflex makes a great product and customer service is even better. but if you are set on 35's just go for the 2.5 coil lift...35's fit like a champ

Love my 3" kit. went with the front lowers and rear upper control arms. It flexes like a beast and has performed wonderfully. I will say, with my unlimited x w/auto tranny, that I had to trim the transfer cross member. The first wheelin trip caused a tear in the front drive shaft boot due to how much droop the 3" kit allows. I have no regrets and really glad I went this route. The height is just right, the stances is great, and the jeep still feels very balanced. Match that all up with the New 35" MTR-k's and you've got a very capable machine. I have yet to need my rear locker and have pushed my jeep pretty hard on some decent obstacles. I'm sure there are plenty of trails and challenges that would change that, but the flex and balance of this lift has far surpassed my expectation and abilities of what I thought my rig was capable of. I'm honestly a little worried about really tryin to push my rig right now. I know my suspension capabilities are far superior to some of the other aspects of my rig. Mainly my D30 front axle. I'm a very controlled driver. but the traction of these new tires coupled with the abilities of this suspension are the least of my worries now.
Don't hesitate with either kit. They both have some compromise and require a certain amount of adjustments to your rig. I have zero tire rub with my kit, but did have to trim my crossmember to allow my front driveshaft to not hit. The 2.5" kit might require some trimming of fenders wells and or other adjustment to the steering stop depending on if you're gonna run stock wheels or aftermarket. Good luck either way.
