Teraflex Tire Carrier?
#602
I was a little worried myself after reading about a few of the adjustable carriers breaking at the weld. Even though I'm only running 35s, I emailed TF, expressed my concern, and they sent me the new gusseted version no questions asked. I've always been impressed with TFs customer service.

The cylinder which the spare mounting plate is welded to was the weak point. Imagine a cylinder with a semi circle cut out on the left and right side, then a flat plate welded along the top and bottom portion of the cylinder. That was the original design. Now weld in some concave steel to the semi circle and to the plate. That is the gusseting. In this picture you can see where the weld stops. It's mirror image on the bottom but the sides are open. They filled in the sides with steel and welded to both sides.

Great product
Just installed. Took me longer than I expected but I took my time cleaning, waxing before the install. I didnt like the exposed holes so snapped in fender clips from my GM and painted the outer torx bolts with a PVC pipe . Should of powder coated them first but turned out good.

Sorry, not drinking this KoolAid. Might be good for mallcrawling with a big wheel/tire combo but over time it will not hold up like a bumper mounted tire carrier will. $700 for what is basically a hinge plate. Or, $865 for an entire bumper and tire carrier that works with the tailgate? Hmmmm
