I don't believe the hinge has changed, but the adjustable mount has been modified to make it stronger.

How well does the hinge hold open. Will the tailgate stay open at a 90 degree angle?

Is this official now? I haven't had mine break but would really prefer the peace of mind when it comes to the mount. Every time I take it out I keep checking the mount because I'm worried it'll break after seeing some.

I was using the stock mount with the TF hinge until recently. When I installed a new rear bumper I needed more clearance for my spare, so I ordered the TF adjustable mounting kit a few weeks ago and it came with the newer mount.

I'd recommend getting adding gussets to the adjustable mount like the bottom left pictures (LeftHandRubi's pic), even with the new mount:

More info please. Like, doesn't this mean the gussets make the moment no longer adjustable?

No, the gussets are welded to the outer sleeve. The inner sleeve gives the adjustment.

Looks like the top gusset would make it non adjustable.
