Thanks for the input. I'm going to go another route instead of the hinge because of that rust issue. I live minutes from the beach so rusting off the bat is not cool.

FWIW, I live close to the beach in the 'other' Jacksonville and I've had no rust in the 8 months I've had the hinge installed.
In fact, between rides on the beach and through the swamps and mud of N. Florida, and rain every day in the summer with 99% humidity, I probably encounter more salt spray, water, and moisture than most.

Read the recent posts to the thread and had to check mine. I've had it installed for a month and a half. No signs of rust so far. Kinda odd that some are rusted while others are clean. Maybe a TF rep can chime with an explanation or research it for us (different material on different production runs, etc...???). I'm not buying the "That's normal" excuse. Quality products shouldn't be rusting within a month of exposure to summertime weather, while the same product is exposed to "The perfect storm" conditions for rust and is rust free. I'll be interested to see if we receive any feedback from TF or their reps.

I'm installing mine today. I wonder if I should add paint somewhere before installing.
It's hard to tell by the pictures, but is it possible that's rust from the hinge pins just running down with the water as opposed to the actual hinge?

Yeah, I'm curious what is actually rusting in those pics since the hinge itself is aluminum.
