Just wondering if it matters which direction even though it doesn't seem like I have a choice. Anyone else run into this ???

That's weird that yours was mounted the other way. I just looked under the owners new JK and it's mounted like in the picture there. It won't matter which way you mount the TeraFlex stabilizer, it has the same resistance both ways.

this came up on another thread too. seems about 50:50on what you got (not that I believe it matters except for possible unique clearance issues.)

I think it depends how many beers the lineman doing the install had the night before in relation to the amount of coffee in the morning.

I had to mount mine with the can at the axle end...

It works great.

No. It is not required. THe stock one should be fine. I only have a new one, becuase my old one developed a shiney spot, which accompanied a dent, and a leak.

This should help you out with your question more: Myths About Steering Stabilizers

the cylinder to be mounted at the axle end would be much better, since if it somehow got twisted/bent on the trail it will not have any effect on the steering binds while turning.

I have notice that most of the 07's SS are mounted with rod at the axle end, and most of the 08 have the cylinder mounted on the axle end.
