Default Teraflex Hinged Tire Carrier - Rust Issue

So, I have 2013 Unlimited with about 31,000 miles on it. I put the Teraflex Hinged carrier on it about a year and half ago. As you can see I have some pretty bad rust on the pins and the body mount portion part of the carrier. Any tips on how to handle this would be great. I just cant stand the look of rust, so I want to clean this up. Can the pins be removed from the carrier and powder coated?? I was thinking about having the carrier bedlined. Anyone else have this problem. I do live in rusty/salty Illinois.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Jason

Just call customer service they will take care of it. I've had several things taken care of easily. Normally just email them a picture and a few days later the resolution is sitting on your doorstep. I've seen one other guy have rusted pins like that and it was taken care of. Mines been mounted for years don't even know how long with zero issues, but I also live in a fairly dry climate. Tereflex is great to deal with.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I've heard many great things about teraflex, which is why I have bought a lot of their products. I just sent an email, if I don't hear from them I will call them next week.

I usually just call them up, I've got allot of their products on my jeep. I usually deal with Doug he always takes care of anything I need. Also anything new I order of go thru river city off-road. Can't beat Marcus's prices and service.

Same here. It's going to be a big PIA to remove the tire, carrier, etc. to get to the hinge bracket. The carrier isn't rusted, just the hinge bracket.

I agree, but I will probably pull mine when the weather gets a little nicer...

Mine is the same way, has been for a couple of years. I keep saying I'm going to pull it off and repaint it, but I haven't yet, lol.
Post up if they replace it for you....

FYI I have seen where Coca-cola soda is handy for surface rust removal if you decide to repaint it yourself.
Search for it on YouTube.
