Default Teraflex Hinge question

Just installed teraflex hinge and I was wondering why it's so hard to open. What have you done to make it easier to open? Or do I just need to deal with it? Thanks for any advice.

I'm going to cut the third brake like off and use the stock carrier with lug nut LED brake lights.

It will take a week or so to 'break in'. And will be easier with the weight of the spare tire.

Thanks. I wondered if the spare would make a difference.

the spare will make a difference but it'll still be tougher to open than stock.

Thanks. It's better than opening up a tire carrier and then opening up the back gate. Plus I have a 4 door now so it won't get used as much as my 2 door did.

I strongly considered the Teraflex one for months( I love their lift on my jeep) but I'm so glad I went with the aluminum Genright instead it just seems like every other week you hear of the Teraflex one cracking or someones trying to get rid of the one they have. I'm like you 4 door don't open the rear too often so the few times I do I don't mind the extra step....
