Default Teraflex HD Hinge not flush?

I couldn't find the answer I was looking for... but those with the Teraflex HD hinge on the tailgate, does yours sit completely flush against the tailgate from the top looking down? I have a small gap on the side that contacts the tailgate toward the right (near the hinge). It's a very minor gap, but the gap is there. I double checked torque on the bolts and it's all good. The quarter panel the hinge attaches to is completely flush and solid - it's just the tailgate side that doesn't sit flush. Thoughts?

Edit: Pics might help.

Take off the carrier, Loosen all the tail gate bolts (almost removed) and then torque the ones closest to the hinges first (where you are seeing the gap)
That's what I did. Seemed to be more flush than you pics.

I tried that earlier. They torqued right back with the gap as it is. It also looks like if I were to force those to become flush it would pull the tailgate out of alignment with the body panel.

Everything is solid - gate opens and closes awesome, no noise or anything. My main concern is debris getting stuck back there or some weakness in the install.

Seems legit... I'll trade you three cucumbers and a can of LaCroix which I will pour in my left eye.

Just a heads up to anyone who might be reading this or following along - I have a few reports from other places that the hinge sits completely flush the entire way across. I think maybe I have a bum hinge.

I dunno mine doesn't and neither have the other six or so I have installed. I have had mine on for over 65000 miles with no issues.

Hmm... How about at the tire carrier side? Mine seats on that side. Maybe it shouldn't be touching.

That is a pretty small gap, variances in the hinge and door will happen. I think as long as there is no space between where the hinge makes contact with the tailgate, and the bolts are torqued to spec with no rattling you are good to go. I have one, but mine is on a boat in the Pacific ocean right now on its way back to WA, so I can't look.
