Yeah I have a 2012 also and the same question. I have a 2" lift and 35's on the way so I was thinking about adding 1" or 3/4" spacers. Will I need exhaust spacers or does it effect the driveshaft angle?

I have 2 door with Terraflex 2.5 coil lift and Bilstein shocks. I added Daystar .75 spacers front and rear. So far so good. No change from stock driveshaft or brake lines Yet

Shocks limit travel of axle so springs or spacers won't change exhaust clearance. Only shocks or shock extensions actually change length of travel.

A lot of people say a 3" lift is about the limit. Going over that, you better start looking at new drive shafts.

But to go along with that, I have heard of people going over 3" and not having problems. I've also heard of people staying under 3" and having problems. It all depends on what you plan to do with it.

I am going with a 3" lift and 35s. I'm not upgrading anything else right away but I will be keeping an eye on things. Especially the exhaust and the driveshaft boot.

Interestingly enough I'm in the latter of the group. I went 2.5" and left a lot stock. About a year after install I was under the JK and I had a slight tear in the boot and a nice ring around the driveshaft. Sure enough, I had been hitting the driveshaft on the skidplate. Keep in mind this was without the front disco'd and very minor wheeling. Once I spent the money to replace the driveshaft it opened up the flood gates. Next came an extra inch of spacer, break extensions, quick discos, new control arms... if I had a PR44 up front or something similar I'd be on 37s by now. I'm looking to swap out the 2.5/spacer combo and put in true 4" coils next... vicious cycle..

Point proven. It depends on what your doing with it. I'm sure I'll have to upgrade eventually. And I'll do it when necessary. But not going to spend the money yet if I don't have to.

I just installed 500 mile Rubicon take-off shocks on my Sahara today. I picked up .5" in the rear from the stiffness and longer length of the shock. Which made me a little happy since I was disappointed with the rear when I installed the 2.5 coil lift on the Sahara shocks.

For those of y'all asking about 2012's and driveshafts, I've had a teraflex 2.5" budget boost with the stock shocks and extensions on for about 9000 miles now. I managed to tear the rubber boot on the slip joint and now have a little grease coming out of the CV joint at the transfercase end I'd look at adding exhaust spacers especially if you plan on approaching the 3" mark. I do wheel pretty often and decently hard tho
