Temporary spare tire spacer
Put 37s on the Jeep and blew my budget pretty good, so there was no way I was going to be able to buy a fancy spare tire carrier yet.
Instead, I decided to make one. I drew a couple quick circles in Autocad and some pilot holes for where I wanted the lugs. I imported the file into turbonest and found a nice piece of 3/8" mild steel plate to lay on the CNC plasma bed. Click the image to see the video:
After cutting out the circles, I cleaned off the leftover slag and deburred the pieces.
Then it was off to the mill to open up the holes. I put a hole in the center in case I wanted to run wiring through there for plate lights or whatever.
After double checking the spacing on my existing carrier
I pressed in the wheel studs I picked up from the parts store. I didn't take a picture of the press, but I did get one of the gauge, showing 3 tons of pressure to seat them
Ran out of time, so I didn't get a chance to cut the spacer and weld it in. I need some advice though... how far out, and how far up do I need to go to clear the bumper?

looks good!! sorry for saying this but with your skills can't you figure out where to set the tire? its easier to measure your tire and rim to know, tires and rims vary in size and offset from brand to brand, but I'm sure you already knew that.

Not yet, but I'll do that when I build the permanent carrier. This is just temporary (couple weeks maybe at most)
Thanks for the compliment though
