Question Takeoff Mystery

I have a short mystery that I could use some sage advice on... So my JK has had a 'stutter' at takeoff. More like a 'skip' that seems to be in the driveline somewhere. Only in forward gears (4 hi, 4 lo, and 2 wheel), does not do it in reverse. When pressing accelerator slightly, there is a type of hiccup or pause. If you quickly press the accelerator it will pass through this 'pause' and proceed normally.

Now it started doing this thing a few weeks ago. A couple things happened. First it was doing this thing so I updated the software on my Superchips and then updated the Jeep. Changed the programming from 93 performance to 87 performance. Made things worse if anything.

I noticed a small transmission fluid leak. That turned out to be a severely corroded transmission oil pan cover. Got a new cover, new filter and new fluid. Still doing the 'pause' thing.

Then I had an engine light stating a misfire. Turns out that was a bad plug wire. Got new plugs/wires and no engine lite and no actual engine stutter when it's cold/wet out. Still doing the 'pause' thing.

I believe these events to be unrelated to the original 'pause' issue. Sort of a series of isolated unfortunate events weirdly coinciding.

The pause thing in the driveline is still going on. Driving me bonkers cause I can't seem to figure it out. Perhaps a stickly valve in the auto tranny somewhere?

Any insight from you folks here would be helpful.

Peace.

I might be a little off, but my first thought was a sticking valve in the tranny. I forget the name, but had the problem in higher gears on a f150 I owned

I could recreate it by easing on the brake while still maintaining speed with the accelerator. Granted, this was higher gears where as yours seems to be with 1st.

If you haven't tried going back to stock with the tuner, I'd try that first and if there's any change.

I should have tried that first. I updated the software on the programmer, returned the Jeep to stock, and then reprogrammed with tire size/gearing only. The stutter went away. Then added the "87 Octane" tune and all seems well.
