Default Synergy tie rod rubbing on stock wheels?!

I just got my synergy tie rod and drag link installed and the rod is rubbing the outer edge of my stock, 16" wheels BAD.
My tires appear toed out now that its on flat ground, but even with the correct toe adjustment it looks like it will hit.

Does the synergy tie rod not work on 16s? My aftermarket wheels are 16" as well (4" backspacing)
I got it all installed and went to test drive down the road and scratched both wheels up as well as both tie rod ends. Luckily it was my stock wheels and not my brand new pro comps.

One of the bullet points listed for that tie rod on their website:

Tie Rod requires the use of a maximum 4-3/4" backspace wheel or the use of a wheel spacer on factory wheel. 4-1/2" back spacing is recommended
Shouldn't be a huge surprise that stock rims with a 6.25 backspace might have issues.

I have it on stock wheels. No spacers. And no problems. I do have the 18"'Sahara wheels though. But mine are nowhere close to touching. Those in the pictures look way deep inside the wheel. Wow

Unless I missed it, quadratec does not mention that anywhere on their site. It only says:
Fits These Vehicles
07-14 Jeep Wrangler 2-Door (JK)
07-14 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4-Door (JK)

I suppose I will install my new wheels and go from there.

Quadratec is a reseller. It's a Synergy tierod, so the poly/synergy website might be the better place to use for information concerning their product.

POLY PERFORMANCE OFF-ROAD PARTS :: Suspension :: Suspension & Lift Kits :: Jeep Suspension Systems :: 2007-Current Jeep JK Wrangler Suspension Systems :: Synergy Manufacturing :: Synergy Jeep JK Chromoly Tie Rod

With a 4.5 backspace on my 16x8.5 rim, the 'old style' boot was touching the rim and ended up splitting and falling off. Looks like you have a different boot that tucks in closer, and a 4.00 backspace on the new rims, so you won't have any problems once you get them on.

Thats crazy. I will take a pic of mine. Im no where near touching with my 16x8's. Even if my bs was closer to stock, it still wouldnt touch. Unless synergy revised its design? Mine was installed yesterday.

If I recall right, they released the new style boot a year and a half ago or something, and a new style of rod end as well. I have the old black rubber boot that ended up squishing out in the middle. No pics from when the boot was still in one piece though.

Not sure if this applies to the Synergy tie rod, but with the Currie tie rod and 16" wheels with 4.5" BS it is very close. So close that it scrapes off wheel balance weights off if they are placed right at the inner edge, so I ensure the mechanic puts them further outboard on the wheels.
