Alloy USA all the way. They stand behind their stuff. Superior, I have not had the best of luck with their service....

I'm purchasing a set of 5.13's today for my 2dr 6spd and after a long talk with a well known driveline guy thats been in the business for quite some time and he says Alloy is junk. He recommended Spicer, Superior or Motive Gear. I'm going with Superior b/c Motive is alittle steep.

I think most all of the gears in the US for the jk are made in India. Just re-branded in different boxes. Call David at Northridge and he could explain it better. There was a big discussion on this a few months ago.

Default gears

I can only speak from experience. Prior to my JK I had owned many jeeps and always used Allow USA parts. The only things I broke were axles and Alloy warrantied these with no questions asked and did it very quickly.

Once I bought a JK and wanted to upgrade the gears the only option was to use Superior gears. Alloy did not have any on the market yet. I had a set of Superior 5:13 gears installed and they were junk. They whined like crazy and the front gears literally chewed themselves up and ruined my front locker.

Superior new about these problems of whining gears and admitted it to me but gave me nothing but grief when I wanted them to pay for the locker and labor to replace the defective parts. They immedietly blamed the installer and said that they were not qualified to install the gears even though I took my Jeep to one of the most knowledgeable and respected shops in AZ with the most JK knowledge. It took me months of negotiations with them to just get them to agree to give me another set of gears. There excuse was they were waiting on a new batch with different cut gears to address the noise issues.

I even went as far as taking the defective gears and the chewed up locker to Moab to physically show the president of and sales manager of Superior and they just scratched their head and said well that was not the cause of my locker failure.

Alloy USA always listened to me as a customer and better yet when a Shop called them to list a failure they listened.

Just my experience. I now know the importance of customer service and will always base my purchases on that concept. The whole gear issue was a complete nightmare that cost me alot of $$$....

Bottom line, Do a search on Superior gear problems and you will find plenty of people with problems. I will never by another Superior product.....

Vast majority of the time, from my research, gear whine is caused by install error. Not sayin that's what caused yours, just sayin.

Hey I'm beginning to notice that mkjeep has a differnet pic on there every week!

Adrenaline Offroad here in Maryland is installing my gears sometime in the next month. They are using Alloy USA and topping them off with Riddler diff covers! While in for service, they are welding on the c gussets and front control arm skids.
