Default Superchips Tow tune: Best fuel to use?

I've been running the SC Tow tune for a year now and I like how it feels compared to stock. I've been running primarily 87 and sometimes 89 octane. Is there a recommended octane for the tow tune? I do get a little pinging after I shut it off, but nothing noticable while driving and no weird sounds or vibrations. Just wondering.

I tried to use the tow tune, but I didn't like the way it was burning my gas up. I've found that 87 tune with 85 octane works best for my rig... maybe because of the elevation, not sure... but 87 tune with 87 gas, 91 tune with 91 gas burns faster under the same driving conditions, using the same route. Haven't noticed any pinging either.

But... to answer your question on what octane to use with tow tune, I think it's recommended to use 87 or higher.

I like using 89 with my SC. Couldn't tell much of a difference using 91. Most of the time, I run 87 tune with 89 octane.

I've used either or 89 or 93 with the tow tune, no 91 available in my location. I didn't notice much difference in towing ability vs. the 87 octane tune, plus the tow tune seems to use more gas. I find turning O/D off is the best setting for towing.

x2, yeah I noticed the tow tune does seem to use more gas than others

Tow tune is designed to run on 91 octane
