I agree with Dwikto. Weight is also an issue for me. I even changed my winch cable to synthetic to save an extra 30 lbs of weight. The front of the jeep feels nimble and handles better on and offroad with a lightweight set up.

Weight should always be considered with any part you add to the jeep.

Default How about the rear?

It sounds like aznme1 has some good info, so let me hijack the thread if I may:
What are the arguments for the rear?
I'd like to go stubby in the back, but am worried about Mr. Officer and Mr. Inspector. They may want me to add mudflaps, etc.
From an offroading point of view, what are the pros and cons of stubby vs. full width?

Thanks!

a rear stubby would allow for better departure angles but the drawbacks of it is that unlike the front, your quarter panels are the last thing rocks see. a wider bumper will protect them from damage.

This guy doesn't seem to have approach angle issues....in fact this pic is what is pushing me toward getting the arb. The only worries I have about it are if I ever want t go to tube fenders it'll look funny.

Just my 2 Cents....

I went with a mid-width. I did not like the full width because 1) the ends kept hitting stuff and 2) mud and stuff would collect on the top of it. I do not like the looks of full stubbies - they just look incomplete to me. My $0.02.

trust me, MBATF is a friend and i have wheeled with him and while the ARB bumper is a great bumper, he would be the first to admit that he does have some approach angle issues.

Yeah, but he makes it look pretty cool though huh?

I'm stuck on what bumper to go with...completely fried...theres too many options, but most make the jk look like its got a fat lip.

I'm back 'n forth all the time. One week I want a stubby for clearance and tube fender possibilities... next I want full width for more protection.

I wish I could make up my damn mind!

I chose a mid-width because the looks are killer, approach angles are improved, and I still retain the fog lights:

I prefer full width for the extra protection they offer. Having lived in the nothwest before I have seen lots of animals hit, and with a full width it usually keeps deer, horses, moose, etc... from hitting anything major. My mother in law hit a horse last week, and her vehicle was totaled, but I have seen vehicles hit moose, and horses with full widts, and the head usually dents the hood where it hits, but otherwise the bumper does it's job and pushes the animal out of the way protecting the rest of the vehicle.
