Some people are doing it but I think its best to make upgrades. Like the gears and driveshafts. I am going with 5.13s and not sure on the driveshafts yet. from what I've read anything around 4.10 and below with 35s is sluggish.

Yes that is how I learned by searching and the other big thing is how you will use your jeep? a daily driver or off road etc).

Thanks, I was figuring he must have a lift for 35s and with the lift and 35s is that not a lot of stress on the drive shafts as well?

You should beef up the front axle with EVO gussets and sleeves or over time you will spread the outer ends, were the ball joints are located.

i know upgrading gears helps for more power, but does it help things from not braking the D30?

No, the smaller gear teeth of a lower ratio makes it some percentage weaker. (hence the ongoing debate about going past 4.88's in a D30) How much weaker, I haven't heard any answers to.

But a whole lot of people are running D30's with 5.13's and 35's with no issues. Just drive like you know it's not a D60 and you'll be fine.

i guess my question is this... having 4.88 would cause things to fail less than keeping 3.21s? i am just curious...i need to read up on gears and teeth size
