3" FT ultimate and stock shoes. It looks ok but planning to get 35's within the next month.

Everything I've read about the 3'' TF is that it's more like a 4-4.25 inch lift..they run tall. I thought the OME was a 2'' that ran more like 3'' if you went with hd springs? Either would be fine with stock wheels, but I'm trying to understand the question cause I thought these lifts where kinda different, or am I wrong? Anyone else wana chime in

I've got an 07 2dr with what worked out to be 3.25" worth of lift and I bought a set of stock rubi shoes and rims for it. I think it looks great, but I am going to get the spacers as well. I am eventually going to go with 33's or 35's, but not till these wear out, as they take me anywhere I need to go.

I'm new to Jeeping... and pretty excited the whole adventure. I'm leaning toward either a 3" Teraflex or a 3" LT OME from Northridge as the first big upgrade. My rig is an 08 JK Rubicon 2-door with an automatic and 4.10s.

My question concerns running the stock Rubicon tires and wheels after the lift kit installation. I'm just curious how many others went with a lift kit and then waited on larger wheels and tires. Will it drive me crazy until I make the move? (I would probably try to force something to happen sooner if it weren't for the fact that I'd like to do the gearing and driveshafts at about the same time as the tires.)

Thanks for sharing any thoughts.

Jeff
I installed OME HD front and standard rear coils, nitro shocks x4 and, JKS adj trackbars this summer on my Rubi with the stock tires and wheels. It looks fine until I sack up and put some large meats in those wheels wells.

Here is a pic of my JK after the lift was installed:

Default Thanks for All Your Great Replies

Hi Everyone,

This really is a great forum, and a great group of posters.

A couple of you are running 1-1/2" spacers. I have read that some people shy away from spacers. Anything that I would need to be concerned about if running spacers? If I don't go with spacers with the stock wheels/tires, what will I be giving up?

Thanks again for all the great input.

Jeff

With 3" of lift being the ultimate goal, funds being an issue and what I perceived, perhaps incorrectly, a desire to run larger tires in the future, a body lift is a frugal and desirable way to travel. While it doesn't give you any additional ground clearance, it also doesn't give you that much of an increase in center of gravity as the meat of the Jeep doesn't increase in height. I believe that to be important when the rubber you're putting on the road doesn't give you a wider stance.

Put 3" of suspension lift on a 2 door and now you're looking at also buying a couple drive shafts with a 2 door automatic transmission ride. Then all the other items that come along with a 3" suspension lift to do it right. Adjustable front upper and lower control arms, brake line extensions, longer rear sway bar links, adjustable front track bar and a rear track bar location bracket. That's barely a budget minded upgrade any more and still running on stock tires.

So a body lift does have it's place and 2" springs along side of it will allow you to eventually run 35s. Draw the path to where you ultimately want to be and find out the path to get there with the least amount of used parts liquidating carnage. There are definitely many paths to follow, but not a whole lot that are any more budget minded than using an inexpensive 1" body lift as part of the solution as opposed to opening up the funnel to more costs that aren't going to be around when you're finished.

Looks good! I have the exact same set up coming from Northridge this week. I did add a 1" body lift as well since I will be moving up to 35's in the next 2 weeks.
