Default Stock JK tire carrier

Will a 35" tire fit on a stock JK tire carrier/bumper?

Thanks and regards,
Vince

Probably not. I have a 33" tire and it touches the bumper.. 2 more inches and I'd imagine the tailgate wouldn't shut. Unless u trim some of the plastic maybe.. Cutting is fun... Lol

Or.. Just ditch the plastic bumper (I eventually did cause the tire wore thru the paint on the Sahara trim piece). I think it actually looks cooler.. Lol.

35's will hit. I had to purchase an adapter to lift it up about an inch and a half and out. It was only a short term fix, getting a dedicated tire carrier will solve the problem and eliminate many others. It will get you by for a while though.

it depends on the backspacing of the wheel. My 35 is mounted on a wheel with 3.75" backspacing and fits fine. I just had to extend bumpstops to keep spare from vibrating.

x2. It will not fit on a stock rim. Believe me, mine's sitting in the garage waiting on my relocation bracket from Northridge. The brackets aren't very expensive. They range from $35-$100.

My 35" Nitto is on the stock carrier. 4.5" backspacing with the Daystar tailgate bumpstops. 1/2 inch of the tire rests on the stock bumper which actuslly helps support the tire.

Just going by info provided to me by a local Jeep dealer (when researching a lift) I was told that once you go beyond a 33" tire its best to replace the tire mount with one thats integral with a bumper. I was told the gate will hold the 35" tire but may vibrate causing both a noise issue and potentially damage the gate.

Hence the Daystar extended bump stops that Rick just mentioned.
