Default Stock Front Driveshaft Life on 3"

So how long can I expect my front driveshaft to last before it explodes like the rear? I am at 11k miles and it is still hanging in there.

my stock lasted one day of wheelin I flexed enough to allow the driveshaft to contact the skip/exhaust pipe and it tore the boot so I just had a new one built for me. you can run without the boot if it tears but it wont be long before dirt and grime destroy the driveshaft.

I got 13k on my front (rear has been replaced) and it's still going strong. BUT, I don't get to wheel as often as alot of the folks on here. So it all depends on how hard and often you wheel it...and even then it may last a while or it may bust the first time

Long time unless it's an automatic. Thats what tears the boot. The boot clamp hits on the transmission with your new found flex!

I'm interested in this question as well. I will be running the Rubicon in a couple of weeks and am concerned about my driveshafts holding up!

if you have a 6-speed, a very long time. if you have an auto, the spline shaft boot is probably already torn.

I have an auto but I wheel like a wheezer. My boot is still intact.

Default Front driveshaft boot.

I just had my driveshaft replaced under warranty because they still don't have just a boot replacement. It looks smaller in diameter than the origional. Did they change the design? It has a U-joint on the diff end which I don't remember on the origional. I have a TF 3" lift on and the clamp caught the tranny pan wheeling in Moab in July. The driveshafts had over 10,000km on them and were trouble free to this point. I new the boot would get torn as soon as it saw some serious wheeling and was going to put a different driveshaft up front eventually. Now I have to go look at an 07 front driveshaft and see if its different.
