Default Stock Fog Light Install

My JK came without the stock fog lamps and as I am looking at getting a new bumper, I am curious if it would be possible to install Mopar fog lamps as if it had come stock (i.e. with the ability to turn them on/off with the light stalk on the steering column). If this was possible, would it be necessary to have the dealer flash the computer to make the new light stalk work or would it just automatically work?

There may have already been a post about this but I was unable to find one.

Yes, there's a kit on quadratec for it. Also, Amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ).

Unfortunately, yes, you have to take it to the dealer.

Also, there are plenty of threads out there...but I recommend using google to find them. The search within this site is really not very good.

I believe on just about every stock electrical accessory that you would like to add IE: Stock fog lights, bluetooth, etc you need to reflash the computer. If your Jeep didn't come with the fogs then your computer is not programmed for them. A Chrysler tech told me this a few months ago so I am only passing this along because this is what I was told. I had my computer re-flashed for $75.00 in order to make the bluetooth work after I installed the harness.

Any idea if it would be possible to do the same thing, but instead of stock lamps, use non-oem lamps?

As long as you don't tie it in with the turn signal arm. Run the fogs on a seperate switch then you will not have to re-flash the computer.
